Located at 941 Grose Vale Road, Kurrajong, the property is just over an acre, and includes the original 1860s cottage, a separate three bedroom caretakers cottage, and an original timber slab barn, plus the beautiful terraced gardens.
The property is being brought to market by Ray White North Richmond’s Cindy Cash on behalf of the vendors, Marisa Gallo and Guido Gallo who have owned the property for the past eight years.
Ms Gallo said they had run the property as a wedding venue and accommodation, winning the Hawkesbury Local Business Award for Tourism and Accommodation in 2021.
“The property was hired by the team at Farmer Wants a Wife in 2021 and 2022, and was used for the two final brides for one of the farmers to get ready for their wedding,” she said.
“The team approached us after seeing the property advertised.
“The brides were pictured in front of the mirror and on the verandah during the show.
“The production team even stayed in the cottage the night before.”
Ms Gallo said in the late 1860s, the owner of the property at the time, Alfred Jones, had donated a portion of the property to the Anglican church in order to build the church which still stands today.
“In the late 1800s-early 1900s the property was also used as a store,” she said.
“As you walked in the front door of the cottage there was a little door you lifted up which would have had a ladder to go downstairs to the store.
“It still has the old store window downstairs which you can still lift up, but the trap door has been covered by tiles.”
After caring for the property and gardens for almost a decade, Ms Gallo said it was time for them to move on due to their age.
“We always saw ourselves more as custodians of the property than as owners,” she said.
“We always heard our visitors say they loved the way we maintained the heritage style of the property.
“We wanted people to be able to enjoy it as much as we do, and we felt absolutely privileged to own the property.
“I’d like to see someone purchase the property who has the same passion for it as we do.”
She said the property’s privacy, the beautiful vistas, the gardens, and the cottage’s white carrara marble fireplace were all her favourite highlights of the property.
“It’s so private and the vista into the valley is magnificent,” Ms Gallo said.
“When you drive in you feel like you’re transported to an oasis.”
Just an hour’s drive from Sydney, Ms Cash said the property was like something from the pages of a storybook.
“This unique property blends timeless charm with modern comforts, offering a rare opportunity to own a significant piece of local history,” she said.
“Situated in the serene foothills of Kurrajong and only moments from the village, this remarkable estate is perfectly positioned for a peaceful lifestyle or an inspired business venture.”
The property is being sold via auction on June 28.
