How it started and how it's going with... Bianca Denham: International Women's Day spotlight series
Kicking us off with a bang is none other than our head of performance and recognition, Bianca Denham.
Kicking off our International Women's Day series with a bang is none other than our head of performance and recognition, Bianca Denham. An indisputable powerhouse of performance, Bianca Denham’s impact on our Group stretches far and wide. Most notably recognised just a few months ago at our corporate Crows Nest Conference 2024, where she took home our organisation’s highest honour, the Chairman's Cup.
What piece of advice would you tell your younger self or someone just starting out?
Think bigger and get into real estate sooner! I entered real estate at the age of 32 and while it's been incredibly good to me, I wish I had started ten years earlier. This industry offers massive scope for professional and personal improvement and satisfaction, I think it's not really understood how diverse a career path it offers from those outside of the industry.
Over your seven years here, what moments or achievements have made you most proud to be part of this organisation?
So I started my sales career with RW in 2010, started working as a contractor for corporate in 2016 as a trainer, then two days a week, then I became an employee in 2018.
When I was selling I managed to take out the #1 spot for the state here and there various months of the year, that was surprising and satisfying. Building a team was also a great step in my sales career, certainly essential to grow. I was a strong auction agent which was something that I also took pride in.
In my time with corporate I absolutely loved the position of advisory and being able to help our network in SA, as well as being in the training space. When I was offered a national role in 2021 it was definitely a goal of mine that I was so thrilled to realise. I wasn't sure that would have been available to me prior to the way Covid changed the world. Being able to operate in a national capacity out of Adelaide. Being made head of performance and recognition a year later was also a great milestone, being able to set the course for the performance team, our programs and developing our team is a massive compliment that I do not take lightly.
Most recently, winning the Chairman's Cup at Crows Nest in November was one of those out-of-body surreal experiences that I did not think I would achieve, certainly not at this stage of my career. In short, there has been amazing opportunity, challenge and immense satisfaction.
What’s the number one challenge you’ve faced, as a woman, in your exceptional career?
The biggest challenge I continue to face is balancing a big job with a young family, alongside my incredibly successful husband who also has a big job. While we can have it all, having it all is not always easy. Over the years I've had to layer in support in running the house, cleaners, online shopping, babysitters and our extended community. While my husband, John is an incredible partner, the mental load that falls to the female of the relationship becomes exhausting. I think this will take generations to change. How we raise our sons to be equal contributors to the running of a home is key to this genuine equality in work and home life.
This International Women's Day, what message would you like to share with other women about building a long-term career they love?
As Mark McLeod once said to me, it's a long march. You need to build a career that's sustainable. You need to take time for yourself when you can and remember, we're not curing cancer here, sometimes we need a reality check to keep things in perspective.
In their words... The most valuable lesson I've learned from Bianca is to be myself, embracing and accepting who I am as a person. This advice has deeply influenced my own approach to authenticity. Bianca has a remarkable gift that might go unnoticed by many but creates ripples of positive impact for those in her orbit - her adaptability and openness to change. Not only this, but Bianca is super talented, ambitious and very hard working. Her remarkable ability to retain information, communicate a message effectively, and maintain impeccable organisation, are just a number of her superpowers.

Bianca's great strength is her ability to listen, learn and grow. Her development over the last 3 years is quite phenomenal where she truly sits in a position of leadership across our network. What Bianca has taught me is about focusing on preparation and finer details and many of our events and training programs are a testament to this wonderful strength of hers.
