Our International Women's Day series continues with the remarkable Jacquie Laing, whose 34-year journey with Ray White has woven her into the very fabric of our organisation. From manually processing Queensland sales reports in the 1990s to orchestrating our entire group's digital transformation during a global pandemic, her evolution mirrors our technological journey.
The trusted navigator who has guided more than 1,000 offices through our CRM and One System platforms, Jacquie has transformed from banking professional to digital cornerstone while working alongside Ray White Chairman, Brian White during pivotal expansion years.
With her philosophy that 'life is not a dress rehearsal' and her gift for making complex systems accessible, she continues to demonstrate that opportunities emerge when you remain open to learning something new every day.
Jacquie, we're all ears!
What piece of advice would you tell your younger self or someone just starting out?
Always ask questions if you're not sure on something, and don't stress about things outside of your control.
Over your nearly 34(!) years here, what moments or achievements have made you most proud to be part of this organisation?
I've done a number of CRM platform changes for our RWG but the most recent one , moving the whole group during Covid (while in lock down) from one platform to another was massive. To be an integral part of the One System team who managed to pull that off was huge.
What’s the number one challenge you’ve faced, as a woman, in your exceptional career?
Less so now, but in the beginning working with offices and implementing technology they always assumed the guys in the team knew more.
This International Women's Day, what message would you like to share with other women about building a long-term career they love?
People will always have opinions on what you may or may not do, but your career is what you want it to be. Learn something new each day even if it is not related to what you do now, you never know when it will come in handy. And my last thing would be, allow time for yourself, life is not a dress rehearsal.
In their words...
Jacquie hasn't quite said this to me in these terms, however, a valuable lesson I have learnt from her is to provide advice and guidance to our network as if the business were our own. Jacquie is also very generous with her time both internally and externally within the group. Always questioning "What would be the type of guidance I would want from a franchisor in a particular time of vulnerability or growth ambition?" This has drastically influenced the way I go about my work and the relationships I have been able to develop in a reasonably short time with the group.
- Brian Chesson, digital performance team leader
Jacquie has true professionalism and it shines when new corporate colleges engage her who may not know her well. She also holds integrity and confidential information very well and can be completely trusted.
Jacquie has taught me the valuable lesson of respecting our Business Owners' right to run their business and make the decisions for their business. It constantly reminds me to manage technology features in a way that puts our Business Owners in more control, not less control.
Jacquie's superpower that sets her apart is her depth of knowledge around all of our systems, processes and most importantly the right person to ask in the right circumstance. Jacquie is such a valuable member of our team and is viewed by many as a real caring mentor and fixer to urgent, complex situations.
