“My brother is an ambassador for Lifeline and the How’s Ya Mate program, so it made it an easy choice to raise money for such a good cause. We wanted to go to the mental health space because it is so important in the rural setting now due to the hardships that they face,” Lachlan said.
“We all know a mate who has been affected by mental health in one way or another so we wanted to raise some awareness about looking out for our mates.
“We started at quarter to five in the morning and our first runner came in at 7pm and last came in at 11pm. There were some really awesome and meaningful chats throughout the day, everybody celebrated the milestones as they came.
“Even those who couldn’t complete the run were so supportive, riding their mountain bikes alongside us the entire run and checking in with us. The whole day was just heaps of fun.
“Raising awareness was our main goal, getting people out of their comfort zone and encouraging more people to speak about it is the first step in the right direction.”
